Focus

Trying to focus in a world of distractions is as impossible as being without thoughts while meditating. I am learning that my thoughts have a journey all of their own, that no matter what I do they are going to continue on their own path. My job is to simply see them coming and then watch them go. They really are so predictable.

When I am trying to focus it means there is a need to push aside those distractions in order to attain some type of accomplishment. Maybe it is my writing, or more time, a conversation to be had, my job, congested traffic, goals with a deadline, you get the picture.

Just like my thoughts, my focus can include all of the distractions, for they too will come, and then they will go. If I am able to include all of my distractions, make them part of my thinking process, eventually they will all come together. What should be, will be, and everything else will continue on its way without me.
