Nuggets

We all seem to have a certain word or phrase we apply to many of the things in our lives that instantly spark a memory, but only if we take the time to acknowledge their existence in the first place. Some of the more common words we use include; pearls, Knick-knacks, souvenirs, trinkets, and for me…nuggets!

For the purpose of this post I chose nuggets, it has a little more universal appeal for me and could come in the form of words, pictures, quotes, and tidbits of learning. A nugget according to the dictionary could be a small piece of precious metal, or age old words of wisdom. Certainly we can all think of a few, and I will sprinkle some here…just to see if you’re paying attention.

“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of a difference you want to make.”

Jane Goodall

My photograph today is loaded with “nuggets”, each of which not only activates my memory, but also has a special spot in my heart, including those two nuggets sleeping on the daybed! From the coffee cup, to all of the books that surround me, any creation I might be working on, and even the desk I sit at.

If you think about it, our lives are a collection of nuggets we have gathered along the way. Writing gives me the opportunity to store most of what I don’t have room to display. All the nuggets surrounding me are connected to a near endless collection of stories and they inspire me to keep going. Some can be inspiring in unimaginable ways;

“Only when a mosquito lands on your testicles, will you truly learn that there is always a way to solve a problem without using anger and violence.”

Confucius

Perception is everything, walking slowly gives me the opportunity to see things I could so easily miss. I will keep trying to see the “nuggets” that this life is trying to share with me. I hope you can as well.

“Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”

Maya Angelou
