Share What You Do

What good will whatever you create be if it never makes its way out of your box of stuff? The reference I used for this line and wash painting was an unfinished sketch hanging on the wall of Hotel Downstreet in North Adams a few months back. We liked it and I thought I could replicate it back home so we could hang it in our Loft. It took me a while, I created a couple of different versions and wasn’t sure either would be worthy of sharing. Suddenly you realize you do what you do because it means something to you and whatever anyone else believes is nothing more than another opinion…we all have them!

“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”

Andy Warhol

We have to kick our fear out of the way or it will pile up to a level that makes it near impossible to work around. Listen to your own heart, it is the tool that put you on this journey in the first place. This foolishness of not believing what you do is good enough is exactly that, foolishness!

“Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.”

Leonardo da Vinci

Creativity comes to us as a gift, it is meant for us to play around with and make it our own. By doing so we make it unique and then send it back on its journey waiting for someone else to bump into it. We call it our voice and it will never be heard if we tuck it away, never to be appreciated by anyone but ourselves.

“Creativity is contagious, pass it on.”

Albert Einstein
