Surrender
I am quite sure most of us grew up with the feeling that surrendering was a sign of weakness, of giving up. However, if we can better understand the importance of life’s moments, we quickly realize the only control we have in life is over ourselves. To surrender to the flow of life is to accept our emotions as they are happening, creating our own peace in real time.
“Surrender is the simple but profound wisdom of yielding to rather than opposing the flow of life.”
Eckhart Tolle
Surrender is the measure of courage it takes to leave the ego behind, and connect with a mind that appreciates the power of recognizing the moment we are in. Inserting a pause into our instinctive reactions to what we think is going on can be the difference between our own strength or weakness, even when listening to ourself.
“There is nothing more important to true growth than realizing you are not the voice of the mind - you are the one who hears it.”
Michel A. Singer
Our real power then lies in our ability to recognize the flow of life and accept the limits of our control. Surrender to the realization true peace comes from within, not from the anxiety placed upon us by those things beyond our control.
“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.”
Lao Tzu
