The Collector
We don’t often think of ourselves as a collector when it is our memory that serves us so well. Words, writings, memories, experiences, photographs, they all add up over the years. So much so in fact that most of us would need a small warehouse to keep them all.
“ No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”
Robin Williams
Memories are a collection of our lives and we can be better curators of what we store inside of us by discarding those that serve no purpose. The years can teach us that much of what we choose to hold onto was nothing more than junk. With some care and tidying up though, they can still add value to who we are.
Often we don’t realize all we have to give, instead we are overly concerned about how others feel about what we choose to display. We are all snapshots of ourselves, but it has taken many rolls of film to create the life that has become ours.
“Tis better to live your life imperfectly, than to imitate someone else’s perfectly.”
Elizabeth Gilbert
