Awe(some)
The frantic pace of life is notably amplified during this time of the year. We can gain control of this craziness by choosing an opposite strategy of deliberately slowing down to notice all the moments of awe happening all around us. Gratitude is not something we should acknowledge in one sitting, but rather a way of life we should attach to ourselves throughout the year.
“Some people have a wonderful capacity to appreciate again and again, freshly and naively, the basic goods of life, with awe,, pleasure, wonder, and even ecstasy.”
Abraham Maslow
Moments of awe in our lives need not be attached to one of the seven wonders of the world. Walk around your personal space and be intentional with an awareness of all of the history that is unique to who you are. Everything attached to you both physically and emotionally comes with a story you can either listen to or rewrite to add to an even better you.
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it.”
Martha Graham
Take some time today to pause and reflect, notice all of the awe moments in your life. What better time to allow gratitude to become a part of your journey. Be deliberate and look for some awe in all of the people, places, and things who are a part of your world!
“Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world.”
John Milton
