Joy

We have just kicked off the most festive season of the year. When I think in terms of joy, peace, and gratitude, I wonder why we don’t put more effort into making it a part of our every day? I have always thought it shouldn’t come down to something so seasonal, but more a part of the fabric of our lives.

“We need Joy as we need air. We need Love as we need water. We need each other as we need the earth we share.”

Maya Angelou

The concept is as simple as the three letters that make up the word; Joy! I think we wait for something that makes us happy in order to feel joy. I believe if we are deliberate in choosing joy then happiness will automatically follow, unconditionally even.

“Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.”

Henri J. M. Nouwen

Without much effort, the magic of this time of year seems to bring out the best that peace and joy have to offer. I’m onboard with spreading the joy of the season into my life every day. It’s a choice!

“Go find your joy. Whatever that is, go find your joy. Are you going to have a good day or are you going to have a great day? Because it’s completely up to you.”

Sandra Bullock
