Summer Silence

The temperatures at this time of the year love to play mind games with us. Cooler nights often giving way to a seasonal reset button which makes it feel like the middle of summer all over again. There is no trickery with the rise and setting of the sun though.

“August rain: the best of summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time.”

Sylvia Plath

Still, there is a weariness that begins to settle in, a path to a quieter time, and days spent trying to figure out what seasonal normalcy is supposed to feel like again.

“September was a thirty-days long goodbye to summer, to the season that left everybody both happy and weary of the warm, humid weather and the exhausting but thrilling adventures.”

Lea Malot

This is yet another wonderful time of the year to pause and reflect, not so much as to the adventures of the last few months, but of the newness and fresh opportunities that lie just ahead.

“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.“

Lao Tzu

“There is a time in the last few days of summer when the ripeness of autumn fills the air, and the time is quiet and mellow.”

Rudolfo Amata

Enjoy the silence that comes with this magnificent seasonal change.
