The Stroll

I walk nearly everyday. They say it is good for you. In the course of a week I walk about fifteen miles. I am not a power walker, in fact the slower I walk the better I like it. To go for a stroll though? Ha, I think this just might be the most purposeful activity I can think of. It keeps me in touch with my surroundings, no matter where I am.

“We are here on the planet only once, and might as well get a feel for the place.”

Annie Dillard

To be out there strolling around, no particular destination in mind, gives me the chance to see things I would have otherwise missed. All of my strolls come with a handful of built in pauses. They keep me present and connected to my surroundings. I am filled with what I can intentionally notice.

“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast - you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.”

Eddie Cantor

Find your spots and do the stroll. You will see the difference between a stroll and a walk by looking at the other people who pass you by. No matter the direction they are headed, most will have their heads down and are nearly in a runners pace. Strolling puts you in a wonderful position to see how everyone else walks!

Hoping you will soon be in-step with yourself!

Talk soon…
