Artful Choices

I don’t think I ever brought home a piece of art that went up on the refrigerator. In fact there wasn’t much of anything that I brought home from school that I didn’t want to hide from everyone. lol! My school-day artwork may be decades behind me, but it doesn’t mean I can’t seek out some self-love connected to a whimsical piece I’ve played around with. I’m having fun!

“What would you do if you weren’t afraid?”

Sheryl Sandberg

I’m not afraid! I’m not fearless, if there were a snake at my feet or a bear in my garage, I would be a sweating kind of afraid, but I am not afraid to have fun! This playful piece is a combination of watercolors, line drawing, gouache, and collage. Yeah, I had no idea where I was going with it. The little house started as a sketch of an incense burner on my knick-knack shelf I picked up in Italy a few years ago. Everything else though, just me playing! Hope you like the self portrait of me standing next to the door waiting for my dog!

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”

Theodore Roosevelt

I love to write creatively, I love to photograph places and things that speak to me in ways that allow for a pause in my life. Playing around with art is the newest component to my trifecta of creativity, so I would be right to call it the youngster in the group. You could say that I have awakened the “artist child” within me. I am loving it, and I can see a wonderful crossover between the three of them, and that make me feel good inside.

Alice came to a fork in the road. “Which way do I take?” She asked. “Where do you want to go?” Responded Cheshire Cat. “I don’t know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the cat, “it doesn’t matter.”

Lewis Carrol

Being on the road is the important thing, figuring out where you’re going will come to you once you start having fun.

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”

Zig Ziglar

I don’t have my school bag any more, there is no sneaking into the house to hide what I don’t want anyone to see. The world has become my refrigerator, and no one should be fearful of putting their creativity out there.

“A year from now you may wish you had started today.”
