Summer Charm
When August rolls around each year, I feel like the flowers in our garden are setting us up for the grand finale! One flower may begin to wither and curl, only to be replaced by another. The show seems almost endless! Some of the best moments of summer are behind us. Now, the coolness of the night blends with the warmth of a new day to add that glistening effect to our garden each morning. Soft, subdued tones turn into sparkling specs of wet sunshine - Nature’s special effects..
“Don’t wait for someone to bring you flowers. Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul.”
Luther Burbank
Our garden becomes a series of short-lived moments to appreciate. Presenting us with a well-deserved thank you for creating an environment where she can thrive. My watercolors have captured a tiny segment of texture and color from our garden this year. Taking the time to make a memory long after she sleeps for the season is my gift back to our garden. I’ve noticed, and she knows it!
“Many eyes go through the meadow, but few see the flowers in it.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Beth wears all the sweat and toil, making it all possible each year. I move the heavier stuff when she asks. I am her constant audience. I am the spectator who sneaks in without paying at the window. I am a fan; she provides all the inspiration to carry me over to the next season. It makes for a wonderful selection of companion planting!
“Flowers always make people better, happier and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.”
Luther Burbank
